Ketsia

Ketsia Bio:

Indie phenomenon, KETSIA, continues to tear up the charts. Last summer her hit single “Possible” went to #9 on Billboard Magazine’s “Emerging Artists”. By August it was charting on Billboard’s “Hot 100”.

ME Magazine took note, featuring her as a “Rising Star” in their summer 2010 issue. Meanwhile, her single “Quand je t’ai rencontré” is racing towards national Gold download status. With a rapidly increasing online presence (over 21,000 Facebook fans), and radio air play from east to west, Ketsia is headed nowhere but up.

Her recently released debut album, “Une Reine Est Née” shows why. From the undeniably rocky pulse of “Let It Go” to the dance grooving “Down Pour Toi”, Ketsia is all about integrity. Nowhere is this more apparent than in her live show, where she brings Barrucco’s production to life through a rocking, grooving set backed by the power of live guitars, basses, drums and a mother lode of funky keyboards and samplers. A proverbial “show-stopper”, Ketsia genuinely loves performing, and always lights up the stage! Small wonder an impressive list of Canadian talent lined up to join her on this album: Vancouver’s Ryan Stewart (Carly Rae Jepsen, Canadian Idol); Russell Klyne (Nelly Furtado, K-OS); and Montréal’s own Joe Barrucco (MC Mario, Samantha Fox, 3 JUNO-nominated tracks).

Like Montreal, the city where she was born and raised, Ketsia’s unique style draws on a
mix of cultural and musical influences: her Haitian heritage, her background as a child choral singer, and her singing and songwriting work in a variety of genres, from R&B, Pop, and Hip-Hop, to Dance. The result is a dance musical style that speaks to her personality in both English and French: fun and infectious, at times bold, at times reflective, but always from the heart. With her come-as-you-are-attitude, lyrical voice, and undeniably positive spirit, Ketsia cuts through the cookie-cutter clutter to reach music fans worldwide.

Listen to her music online at www.ketsiamusic.com or www.myspace.com/ketsiamusic,
and join Ketsia’s Facebook fan page. Ketsia can also be found on iLike, iTunes, Puretracks, and YouTube, where her music video “Let It Go (Remix)” has been viewed over 100,000 times.

Don’t be the last to jump on the K-Train!

2005-06-25 Square Wave @ Irvine Crazy Horse

Yes, it was a bittersweet night at the Crazy Horse which was closing down due to a change in policy by the Irvine Spectrum. These are my pictures from the third (and last) music set where the Bootie Quake band was "fired" and replaced by Square Wave, who played a fun set of 80's music.

2005-04-16 Kick @ Gardena Normandie Casino

Because of their late start and the fact that I had planned to see another GA show that night (which I did not have a ticket for) I was only able to stay for the first few songs of this set. This was my first time seeing this tribute to INXS and I have to admit although it is not easy to pull off the charasma that INXS had, these guys in Kick do a very good job, getting much of the audience up and dancing. I'm looking forward to being able to see them again.

It was nice to be able to see this rocking all-female AC DC tribute band again. Unfortunately, the dim lighting combined with the smoke machine ruined most of my flash pictures, and the opportunity to take some good pictures. I managed to take a few pictures between the periods of smoke, and I left a couple smokey pictures to illustrate my point. Hopefully next time I can get some better pictures of this talented band.

I found out fairly late that the U2 tribute band was playing nearby in The OC, but I decided to check them out. I was able to catch about a set and a half and I really liked the sound of this tribute band. The lighting and layout was not good for videos or pictures, so I only took a few. Hope I can see this band again soon.

2004-12-08 Spazmatics @ Vegas Suncoast

This was my first time seeing the Spazmatics perform at the Suncoast Casino in the vicinity of Las Vegas, NV. I had a really great time at this club, as everything about it was great, from the dance floor, lighting, sound, no cover charge and inexpensive drinks. Big thanks to Lisa for her help with editing all these pictures.
